Once a year, Alfama becomes the home of independent cinema.
For one week, from the Museum of Fado to the steps of São Miguel, more than fifty films are screened, selected through the discerning and curious eye of our jury.
Different categories, stories from every corner of the world, and a wide range of cinematic perspectives—all brought together in the streets of Alfama. Because, after all, a cinema can exist anywhere.

Awards
Award winners and nominees will have the opportunity to publicly screen their films at the Cinalfama Lisbon International Film Festival, held each July.
Winners will receive an official festival laurel and a Certificate of Participation and Achievement in PDF format.
Selected filmmakers will receive a festival trophy.
Winning films will receive a privileged screening by the ÉCU selection committee, with the opportunity to be officially selected and awarded by the festival.
Promotional materials for all nominated and winning films will be featured on our website and across our social media channels.
The winner of the Animalfama competition will be automatically selected for Cinanima, an Academy Award® Qualifying Festival.
The Guest Country of the 2026 Cinalfama Lisbon International Film Festival is Poland. The winning filmmaker and any recipients of Honourable Mentions may be eligible for financial support towards travel and accommodation in Lisbon (more details to be announced soon).
The best films in the City in Film Award category may be selected for screening at the Arquiteturas Film Festival in Porto.
