Lisbon International Film Festival

Once a year, Alfama is the home of independent cinema. An historic neighbourhood where the fado is king opens its doors to give voice and space to another artistic expression.
For a week, between the Fado Museum and Escadinhas de São Miguel, more than five dozen films are screened, selected by the demanding and curious eyes of our jury.
An outdoor event because, after all, a movie theater can be anywhere.

Awards

Winners and nominees will have the opportunity to publicly screen their films at the Cinalfama Lisbon International Film Festival in July.

Winners will receive a laurel and a certificate of participation and distinction (PDF document).

A trophy will be awarded to the selected directors.

The winners will have a privileged viewing by the ÉCU selection committee, with the possibility of being selected and awarded by the Festival.

Promotional materials for nominated and winning films will be shared on our website and social media.

The winner of the Animalfama competition will automatically be selected for the Oscar Qualifying Festival Cinanima.

The Guest Country of the Lisbon International Film Festival in 2026 is Poland and the winner and any recipients of honorable mentions may receive financial assistance for travel and accommodation in Lisbon (more news soon).

The best films in the City in Film Award section may be screened at the Arquiteturas festival in Porto.
