Jury
Our jury is composed of some of Portugal's most current and accredited cinematic voices, as well as winners of former editions of the Cinalfama Awards.
Lula Bery was Awarded Best Actress in 2017, Diana Cordova received an honorable mention in March 2019 for her documentary Camina, Kaltrina Krasniqi won Best Documentary in 2018 for Sarabande, and Ely Chevillot won Best Director in 2017.
Leonor Teles
Born in 1992 in Vila Franca de Xira, Leonor has a degree in Cinema from the Lisbon Theater and Film School (ESTC) and a Masters in Audiovisual and Multimedia from the ESCS. In 2016, she won the Best Short Golden Bear award at the 66th Berlinale with the film Balada de um Batráquio . Terra Franca , her first documentary feature, premiered in Cinema du Réel where it won the International Prix de La Scam. In 2019, Dogs Barking at Birds premiered at the 76th Venice Film Festival and was nominated for the European Film Awards for Best Short film. Leonor currently works mainly in documentary and cinematography.
Pedro Cabeleira
Born in 1992, producer and director Pedro graduated in Directing and Cinematography from the National Film School (ESTC) in Lisbon. He's known for his medium feature graduation film Estranhamento (2013), Verão Danado (2017) for which he earned international recognition with a special mention win at Locarno. The film had a number of other participations in important festivals such as Mar de Plata, Torino and Cannes ACID parallel section, as well as a commercial distribution.
Ely Chevillot
After Mathematics Studies at Université Libre de Bruxelles in Belgium, Ely Chevillot went on to study Film Directing at Institut des Arts de Diffusion in Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium. Her cinema cursus ends up with the short film The Elusive (Ce qui échappe), selected in 60 festivals and multi award-winner. Her following short film Étouffés was released this year. Apart from her own film projects, Ely is also working on numerous screenplays, including the Belgian TV Series.

Diogo Figueira
Diogo graduated in Screenwriting from the National Film and Theater School in 2013. For his thesis he wrote the mid-length film Strangeness , selected for Fantasporto IFF and La Cabina IFF. Recently, he consulted on the script of The Meaning of Life , co-wrote the documentary The Labyrinth Of Longing , co-wrote the drama series Três Mulheres (RTP) for which he was nominated for an Authors Award (SPA), and co- wrote the short Filomena which competed at IndieLisboa. Diogo worked on the distribution of documentary José and Pilar , on the production of Damned Summer and produced the web series Subsolo (RTP Play and Youtube). Diogo also teaches Screenwriting at CSARTS.
João Lisboa
Graduated in Music Composition bachelor from the National Music Conservatory in Lisbon. João is a Music critic who has been writing for Expresso since 1984, and occasionally for other publications such as Jornal de Letras, Público and Blitz. Former work and collaborations include renowned cultural institutions such as Cinemateca Portuguesa, Frankfurt Book Fair, the Ministry of Culture, Curtas - Vila do Conde Short Film Festival, WOMEX / The World Music Expo / Berlin, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation, and more. João is also a Professor of Music Production for Film, Sound Forms, Aesthetics and Music Forms at the Lisbon Theater and Film School.
Marta Andrade
Born in 1992, Marta studied Directing at the National Film School (ESTC), and finished her degree in Prague at FAMU. She went on to do a one-year training in animation at the Atelier de Sèvres, Paris, as well as a masters in Animation at the Royal College of Art in London. Come to me , her first-year film, was selected by festivals all over the world, and her graduation film, The Village Game , was pre-selected for a BAFTA nomination in the student films category. She has worked for the likes of BBC, Google and CNN as a concept artist and animator based in London. Since June 2018, she has been living in Portugal and she's currently working as an animator, colourist, illustrator, teacher and art director.
João Gomes
His first feature film Natália, A Diva Tragicómica (2011) is a landmark documentary produced for RTP2 (public cultural television) where all of his films (including Estórias and Tio Carlos 1942-1969) were broadcasted. He has recently finished producing, directing and editing his sixth film, the Portuguese-Spanish co-production Couto Mixto. João has a degree in Sociology and Cinema, as well as a Masters degree, concluded with honors, in Cinema Project Development from Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema de Lisboa, for the film A Noite De Santo António (Vigo, Blow Up Chicago, TCM London and many other selections worldwide). He is currently directing "Filhos de Tuga", a documentary series set in Africa.
He is a film critic, as well as a certified instructor and lecturer on several film subjects. João is the founder of Cinalfama International Film Festival, an indie cultural reference in Lisbon, which he also directs and curates.

Lula Béry
Born in the suburbs of Paris, Lula later moved to Brussels where she graduated from INSAS in 1994. As an actress, Lula starred in multiple short and feature films, and took part in several theatrical creations and tours with French and Dutch speaking producers including Dirk Opstaele, Vital Schraenen, Patrice Bigel, Xavier Lukomski and many more. As a video artist, she worked with actor and performer Bernard Van Eeghem on DE (E) migranten , produced by De Werf for Brugge 2002. She created La passion selon… a short film screened at the Cinema Nova and part of the exhibition Les Mystères de la Vie at the Ecurie / RTT and Baron Perché festival. Lula has also co-founded the theatrical company Oh my God with Barbara Sylvain, as well as It's so nice .
Kaltrina Krasniqi
Kosovo based film director and researcher working in film, television and digital humanities since for over two decades. Founding member of Kosovo Oral History Initiative and a co-founder of the popular Prishtina café-bookshop Dit 'e Nat'. Kaltrina graduated in Film Directing from the University of Prishtina, and completed her MA in Kosovo's Institute for Journalism and Communication. In 2015 she went on to study Film Producing at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Her last film Sarabande (2018) premiered in ZagrebDox, was awarded Best Documentary in Cinalfama Film Festival and was nominated at the Camerimage Festival 2018. She is in production of her first feature film, Vera Dreams of the Sea .
Diana Cordova
Born in Lima, Peru in 1994, Diana studied Audiovisual Communication at the Toulouse Lautrec Institute. She continued his studies in the TAI School (Madrid), where she did her Masters Degree in Creative Documentary and Experimental Cinema. In 2017 she premiered her debut opera Camina in the fifth edition of the Transcinema International Film Festival. In 2019, Diana participated in the 13th edition of Talents Buenos Aires as an Editor. At the moment, Diana is a professor of Documentary in the Institute Toulouse Lautrec in Peru.
Joana Niza Braga
Born in 1992, Joana studied Sound for Film at Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. She worked as a sound designer for Leonor Teles' Balada de um Batráquio which was awarded the Golden Bear for best short film at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival. She went on to work at post-production studio Loudness Films, as a sound editor for Leonor Teles' Terra Franca and João Maia's Variações for which she received the Portuguese Academy Sophia award , but also as the foley mixer in Free Solo which was awarded the Oscar for Best Documentary in 2019.
